Code of Ethics

These are the principles within which all members of the Florida Land Title Association pledge themselves to conduct their business:

  1. Maintain the highest possible standards of business practice and make a continuing effort to improve the quality of service in the title profession.
  2. Issue abstracts of title or policies of title insurance only after a complete investigation and thorough examination of adequate records, and take all possible care to meet the customer's needs.
  3. Earn and maintain a reputation for honesty and integrity, and assume full personal responsibility for services performed.
  4. Endeavor to serve the best interests of all parties involved in the transfer of real estate titles by:
          (a) eliminating delays and unnecessary exceptions;
          (b) making their services available to facilitate transferability of title;
          (c) providing adequately for obligations assumed, while seeking to maintain a fair return for services rendered and capital employed.

  5. Work toward legislation which is in the public interest and is designed to free real estate transactions from unnecessary restrictions.
  6. Refrain from unfair or deceptive business practices.
  7. Promote the public interest and the continuing integrity and stability of the title profession.
  8. Cooperate with others engaged in real estate transactions-real estate brokers, attorneys, lenders, home buyers, surveyors and appraisers-in efforts to provide the people of Florida with the finest professional service at reasonable cost.
  9. Support the Florida Land Title Association and its efforts to enforce adherence to these principles.
  10. Submit to the Association any alleged violation of the principles included in this code.
