I am a licensed title agent and recently moved to Connecticut and have found employment with Stewart Title and will be doing transactions in multiple states, including Florida. Can I maintain my license since I no longer work or live in Florida but will be handling Florida transactions?

I asked Ray Wenger of the Florida Department of Financial Services your question.  Here is his response:

    Alan,

It is almost always easier to change from a resident license to a non-resident license. That is because the resident license always involves more requirements than a non-resident for most lines.  For title it is not a big change because all the requirements remain the same.  All that changes is the type and class of the license.  All a person needs to do is contact the Bureau of Licensing and let them know.  They will change the license type and send them an email when the agent can download and print a new license copy showing the change was made.

You did not send the contact information for the person asking the question, so feel free to let them know.  They can also email the Bureau of Licensing at AgentLicensing@MyFloridaCFO.com.

    Thanks

    Ray Wenger
