    Vince,

Many of my agencies are finding similar struggles.  These are a result of either agents that expect others to come in with their philosophies, or those that come with habits or controls that a growing agent may not be fond of.  There are plenty of great, experienced, and talented agents out there.  Best source of opportunities should be to lean on your contemporaries and/or your underwriters.  I place people weekly, and often times it is quality and personality based, they both must match up!

    1. The problem with going to the underwriter rep is they may be puling from another customer and they may do that to you.

    2. We hired from a few REO title companies and those were awful experiences.  They appear to be trained in an assembly line fashion to do limited tasks for each person with no sense of urgency and no customer service requirement.

    3. As always for me, the best people come from outside the industry and we train them to do it our way. Find a person who has service ingrained, a little bit of brains, some real common sense, and outgoing personality and they can be some of the best in a few months.

I agree with Barton.  We have struggled to find talent.  If they have the skills, enthusiasm, desire and work ethic I find it easier (and better for the bottom line) to train talented people who are interested in a career in our business.
