Today, DFS announced its final Designation Rule, which purports to regulate what a licensed insurance agent (title or otherwise) can say about their experience, expertise, education and even the job titles we can assign. Even true statements are seemingly prohibited under this poorly drafted rule.
FLTA has expressed concern about this repeatedly as this rule was in development, and our concerns went unheeded. You can review the complete history of our involvement and the final rule
here.
We see this rule as potentially requiring changes to job titles, business cards, websites, facebook pages and other promotional materials. Please respond to this post with specifics about how this might impact your business and your thoughts on whether FLTA should undertake a rule challenge.
